Lower Trancura Family & Fun.

Get ready for a natural "rollercoaster." Navigation in the lower section is a party of continuous waves and white foam. The river here is wide and generous, alternating rhythmic paddling with calm pools ideal for jumping in and floating while watching the sky.

  • The Rapids: You will tackle super fun Class III rapids like the famous "Fisherman," "The Junction," or "The Lioness." These are obstacles that shake the raft and soak you with laughter, but without the technical demands of the upper section.
  • The Scenery: Between rapids, you will have the best panoramic views of the Villarrica Volcano. It is the perfect moment for our photographer to capture the postcard shot of your trip with the volcano in the background.
  • The Sensation: It is pure flow. You will feel the force of the water carrying you, but always under the safe control of your guide.

A glimpse to the River

Balsa

La Bandera (II-II)

First rapid, long and entertaining like a rollercoaster!

El Pescador (III+)

The biggest rapid in this section. We must paddle as a team and with power to overcome a big wave at the end.

With winter water levels, this rapid cannot be run.

La Junta (III)

If you thought the waves were big, now they get bigger. The Trancura River meets the Liucura River.

Higher Flow = Bigger Waves.

La Leona (III-IV)

The longest rapid on the entire Trancura River. 500 meters of fun.

La Piedra Asesina (III)

"The Killer Stone." The last rapid of the Trancura River. We must dodge the rock that names the rapid by paddling hard to the left.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! The Lower Trancura is ideal for beginners. While knowing how to swim always helps, here the high-buoyancy life jacket does the work for you if you fall in (which is rare). The river is wide and alternates fun rapids with calm zones.

You only need to come with your swimsuit on and a towel. We provide all the "dry and sanitized" technical gear (wetsuit, booties, windbreaker, life jacket, and helmet). Your dry things stay safe in our transport or base.

For safety, we do not recommend bringing loose objects. You need both hands to paddle and hold on. If you have a GoPro with a helmet or chest mount, you can use it at your own risk.

No! Rafting is one of the few activities in Pucón that is even better with rain. You are going to get wet with the river anyway, and the thermal gear we provide will keep you warm. The forest environment with rain and volcanic steam is a mystical experience.
